How to use

Set up this thing so family can share comments, updates, messages, and photos, separate from the more public social media platforms.

To post a bunch of photos at once, click 'Mine' in the menu, then scroll down to 'Upload photos.' I think this is the only place you can do it, but I can add a way when I have time to dev the site.

If I'm not checking the admin section and don't approve your account for you, you can email me and tell me to or I'm also on Wire.

If you have other questions, let me know and I'll add to this.

(not of interest to everyone, but I'll be updating this setion for people who want to have more privacy and security versus online stuff)

Privacy and other measures:

When you upload a photo, it compresses the image (makes it smaller) which is easier to store lots of images on the server. It also strips (as far as I can tell) all photo metadata during this process, and applies new metadata based on the conversion software used internally and the date of upload (it doesn't show your phone model, date of taking the photo, etc., as from what I hear mainstream social media does). ... if you want to test this, download an image from the site, then (assuming you're using linux and have imagemagick installed, open a terminal in your Downloads folder (or wherever you saved the image) and use 'identify -verbose theimagename.pngorjpgorwhatever'

To view the website, you have to log in. It's not encrypted. I'm not sure if that would improve anything, given that the main point of vulnerability is just logins (bruteforce or stolen credentials). Please use at least a relatively strong password, and write it down on a note you stick to your fridge. No one without a login credential can log into the site or see the site.

However, please don't use last names at all, which should be standard practice anywhere on the internet. And if you want, you can use an initial or some other name for yourself. Since it's just family on here, we'll all know who's who.
